The George Institute for Global Health

The Institute was established in Sydney, Australia, in response to the growing worldwide burden of non-communicable disease and injury, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. The Institute, originally known as The Institute for International Health, began operating in 1999 with the support of the University of Sydney Faculty of Medicine.

The Institute has experienced substantial growth since 1999 and now employs over 250 staff. In April 2004, the Institute opened an office in Beijing, China, which became a formal legal entity in 2006 and was officially launched in 2007. It also open in the same year of 2004 an office in London, UK. Another subsidiary in Hyderabad, India was also launched in 2007.
